New Route of the Day (8 March 2023): Chalair between Brest and Paris ORY

ORY - BES

Chalair (IATA code CE) launched a domestic service between Paris ORY and Brest on Wednesday 8 March. The French regional airline maintains 11-weekly flights between the two cities, including two-daily Monday to Friday and one service on Sunday. The 500-kilometre route is being operated by the 48-seat ATR 42 turboprop.

What they said

Alain Battisti, President of Chalair, said: “The opening of this route further strengthens the already substantial presence of Chalair in Brittany. The Orly service greatly facilitates access to Paris for the business world. The offer of twice-daily flights perfectly meets the expectations of business travellers but also leisure passengers looking to travel peacefully from or to the capital.”

Chalair replaces Transavia

Chalair will replace the Air France – KLM subsidiary Transavia on the route. The ULCC maintained four-weekly flights between the two airports. Transavia was to discontinue operations on the route last October citing low demand but bowed to pressure from local politicians and extended the service until March. Indirectly, Chalair faces competition from Air France, which runs multiple daily operations from Paris CDG to Brest.

The new Chalair service becomes its second from Brest, with the carrier also maintaining 11-weekly flights to Bordeaux with Beech 1900s.
