Transavia on Monday 8 November took over from Air France the route between Paris ORY and Montpellier. Although frequency has remained the same at 25-weekly, seat capacity has been increased as Transavia uses 189-seat 737-800s while Air France had been using a mix of 131-seat A318s and 142-seat A319s on the route. Competition comes from easyJet, who have gradually ramped up frequency on the route from 4-weekly in October to 14-weekly in December according to Cirium Data and Analytics.

Transavia already offers an extensive network of leisure routes from Montpellier during the summer. However, many of these are seasonal. The airline’s winter network (w/c 8 November 2021) at Montpellier comprises 10 routes. Apart from Paris ORY, there are also domestic links to Brest, Nantes and Rennes. The international routes are to Agadir (Morocco), Djerba (Tunisia), Lisbon (Portugal), Marrakech (Morocco), Seville (Spain) and Tunis (Tunisia).

Air France still operating CDG to Montpellier

While Air France has given up the Orly route, it continues to operate between Paris CDG and Montpellier. Between four and five daily flights are offered by the SkyTeam carrier on this route every day of the week throughout the winter season.
