Themes of the Week
- American and United both made big announcements of new summer international routes.
- Alaska made some cuts to California routes and added back one route.
- Avelo and Southwest extended their schedules.
- WestJet was the most on-time North American airline in July.
Capacity Update
Alaska (AS)
- Added back service between LAX and SJC from November onward with four times a day service on a 737-900. They last served the market in January 2026 and the route is currently served by Delta, Frontier and Southwest.
- They made many cuts in California, including the below cancellations.
- Removed four routes from future schedules:
- JFK and SMF to Puerto Vallarta (PVR). Both were scheduled to operated January through April or May.
- SMF to Cabo San Lucas (SJD) was scheduled to operate January through April.
- SLC to STS was scheduled to operate November through April.
- ONT to STS was cancelled from November onward.
- LAS to SBP was cancelled from November onward and is a confirmed exit.
- Other seasonal suspensions from November through April 13: PDX to BNA and MCI; and BUR to EUG and RDM.
- SJC to KOA and OAK to LIH were suspended from February through mid-March.
American (AA)
- Filed six new or resuming international summer seasonal routes:
- JFK to Amsterdam (AMS) from March 28 with once daily service.
- CLT to Barcelona (BCN) from May 28 with once daily service.
- JFK to Nice (NCE) from May 6 with once daily service.
- PHL to Reykjavik (KEF) from May 28 with once daily service.
- PHL to Porto (OPO) from March 28 with once daily service.
- PHL to Vienna (VIE) from May 7 with once daily service.
- Seasonally suspended nine routes from early January through mid-February:
- BNA to Cancun (CUN) and Punta Cana (PUJ)
- CLT to SMF
- CVG and OKC to CUN
- DFW to Nassau (NAS)
- PHL to LEX
- ORD to GEG and St Croix (STX)
Avelo (XP)
- Extended their schedule to April 20, 2027.
Avianca (AV)
- Removed four new U.S. routes that were scheduled to operate over the holiday season in December and January: Cali (CLO) to JFK and MIA; Cartagena (CTG) to MIA; and San Salvador (SAL) to ORD.
Delta (DL)
- Seasonally suspended four routes:
- ATL to Zurich (ZRH) from March through April 19.
- BOS to HNL from January 4 through April.
- LGA to Panama City, FL (ECP) from January 4 through February 11.
- LAS to SAN from November 9 through December.
- Starting seven seasonal routes early:
- BOS and SEA to Barcelona (BCN); SEA to Rome (FCO); and JFK to Porto (OPO) and Prague (PRG) all starting in April.
- BOS to BZN and YHZ both starting in June.
- BOS to ORF starting in April.
Norse (N0/Z0)
- Added service from November on from Rome (FCO) and London-Gatwick (LGW) to JFK.
Southwest (WN)
- Extended their schedule to June 2, 2027.
Sun Country (SY)
- Added additional charter flights in September and reduced capacity on 24 MSP routes in October and November.
United (UA)
- Filed 14 new summer seasonal routes:
- DEN to Paris (CDG) from May 27 with once daily service.
- EWR to Catania (CTA) from May 28 with four times weekly service.
- EWR to Ibiza (IBZ) from May 31 with four times weekly service.
- EWR to Ljubljana (LJU) from May 12 with four times weekly service.
- EWR to Luxembourg (LUX) from April 2 with daily service.
- EWR to Marseille (MRS) from June 4 with daily service.
- EWR to Olbia (OLB) from May 27 with three times weekly service.
- EWR to Terceira (TER) from June 9 with three times weekly service.
- EWR to Valencia (VLC) from June 2 with three times weekly service.
- IAD to Milan (MXP) from May 28 with three times weekly service.
- IAD to Toulouse (TLS) from April 26 with daily service.
- LAX to Osaka (KIX) from March 27 with once daily service.
- SFO to Okinawa (OKA) from March 27
- SFO to Tel Aviv (TLV) from March 28 onward. It was last served in October 2023.
- Suspended EWR to Lima (LIM) from March 27 onward.
- Suspended ORD to MYR from January through February.
Volaris (Y4)
- Starting four U.S. routes two months early in October: Guadalajara (GDL) to ATL and IAD; Queretaro (QRO) to LAS and Puebla (PBC) to ORD.
