Air Canada unveils major international expansion for summer 2027

Air Canada has announced its largest intercontinental expansion to date for summer 2027, adding five new international destinations and seven new routes across Europe and Asia, alongside frequency increases and extensions of several seasonal services to year-round operations.
The carrier plans to operate more than 125 international routes next summer, offering up to 169,000 weekly seats to more than 85 destinations outside Canada and the United States. International available seat miles will increase by more than 8% compared with summer 2026.
The expansion will see Air Canada launch year-round flights from Vancouver to Guangzhou, while Toronto YYZ will gain new services to Oslo, Shannon and Nice. From Montreal, the airline will add Basel and Dubrovnik.
Toronto – Oslo, Toronto – Shannon and Montreal – Basel will be operated by the carrier’s new Airbus A321XLRs, while Guangzhou and Dubrovnik will use Boeing 787 Dreamliners and Nice will be served with the Airbus A330-300.
Elsewhere, Toronto – Shanghai will increase to daily, the Toronto – London LHR daytime service will return, and Toronto – Guatemala City will become year-round. Montreal services to Tenerife, Lima and Guatemala City will also be extended to year-round operations.
Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Air Canada, said: “Summer 2027 marks the most extensive intercontinental expansion in Air Canada’s history, cementing our position as the second largest North American carrier by global destinations served.”
The airline noted that further network announcements are expected as additional aircraft join its fleet, including details of its first Boeing 787-10 operations.
