Air Service One – Bitesize Analysis of the Day – 17 February 2025 – Airport passengers 2024 vs 2019

Last year (2024) was the first year that air travel demand across all of Europe exceeded the pre-pandemic 2019 figure. However, the recovery in traffic was by no means even across the continent, as the following graph shows for the 20 biggest country markets in Europe.

Nine of the Top 20 have shown at least 6% growth versus 2019, but 11 countries are still yet to fully recover. Some of these are likely to pass their 2019 demand levels in 2025. Anyone want to suggest when Finland, Germany and Sweden will surpass pre-pandemic levels?

Worth highlighting again the extraordinary growth in the Albanian market where demand has more than tripled since 2019 thanks primarily to Wizz Air and Ryanair.
