SAS – Scandinavian Airlines is the national carrier of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. A founding member of the Star Alliance in 1997 the carrier jumped ship to SkyTeam on 1 September 2024.

AIR SERVICE ONE analysis of Cirium schedules data shows that pre-COVID Norway was the airline’s biggest market by seats, but in terms of ASKs (Available Seat Kilometres) there wasn’t much between the three Scandinavian country markets with Denmark just ahead.

However, since 2023 Norwegian and Swedish ASKs have remained virtually unchanged while Danish ASKs have increased by a massive 60%. Norway is still (just) leading in terms of annual seats in 2026, but capacity is down 27% versus 2019. Meanwhile, Danish seat capacity is up 30% versus 2019.
