Air Service One – Bitesize Analysis of the Day – 5th March 2026 – Top 15 airports for Norwegian in 2025

ASO Bitesize Analysis

Remember when Norwegian had multiple bases in Spain and offered transatlantic routes from several European cities, notably London Gatwick?Well, post-pandemic the airline has sensibly retrenched into its Nordic heartland and ditched widebodies and long-haul flying.

AIR SERVICE ONE analysis of Cirium schedules data suggests that the airline’s seat capacity in 2025 was up less than 1% versus 2024. The airline’s own traffic figures for 2025 show that passenger numbers increased by just over 2% to 23.12m, partly driven by an increase in load factor from 85.0% to 85.8%.

With an all Boeing 737-series fleet of 94 aircraft (according to planespotters.net – 59 737-800s and 35 737 MAX 8s), Norwegian’s seat capacity in 2025 ranked the airline eighth among European (U)LCCs, just behind Eurowings and ahead of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays.

Of its top 15 airports, three (all in Norway) reported double-digit cuts in capacity, although its three biggest airports, serving the capitals of Norway, Denmark and Sweden, all recorded growth.

Dublin Airport

In 2025 Norwegian started serving Newcastle International Airport and Tangier in Morocco (both from Copenhagen Airports A/S) and also resumed flights to Letisko M. R. Štefánika – Airport Bratislava and Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt. Two Polish airports, Szczecin and Port Lotniczy Wrocław S.A. (Wroclaw Airport) were no longer served.

This year Norwegian plans to launch service to Lamezia Terme in Italy, Cluj International Airport in Romania, Tbilisi in Georgia and resume service to Zurich Airport Ltd in Switzerland.
