Air Service One – Bitesize Analysis of the Day – 26 July 2024

Unlike other northern European countries which are still struggling to get back to 2019 levels of traffic (e.g. Finland, Germany, Norway, Sweden and even UK) Poland has had no such problem. Passenger numbers from its airports in June show that demand is around 22% higher than pre-pandemic. Nine of its top 11 airports are reporting double-digit growth.
AIR SERVICE ONE analysis of Cirium schedules data reveals that outside of Warsaw’s main airport (WAW), the growth has primarily been driven by Ryanair which has increased non-WAW capacity by almost 60% making it now significantly larger than Wizz Air.
However, at WAW itself, Wizz Air has grown seat capacity by 42% to 228k seats in June 2024 while Ryanair offers just 15k seats on six routes.
