Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA) is off to a strong start in 2025, reporting solid growth across key traffic indicators while advancing major infrastructure upgrades under its Gateway 2030 expansion.

Gateway 2030 Milestone: New US check-in terminal

In April, Aruba Airport marked a major milestone with the soft opening of its new US Check-In Terminal. Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines and Spirit Airlines are now operating from the new facility, which features integrated US Customs screening and an advanced baggage handling system. This setup eliminates the need for passengers to handle their luggage after CBP screening, significantly streamlining the check-in process for US-bound travelers. The phased transition continues through the coming months.

Q1 2025 Traffic Trends and Route Performance

In Q1 2025, Aruba Airport welcomed 432,937 revenue-generating passengers (RGPs), a 5.4% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Seat capacity expanded by 2.2% to 540,258 seats, while load factors improved by 1.1 percentage points, reaching 85.2%. Flight departures also increased by 4.1%, signaling strong sustained demand.

The US market remains Aruba’s largest, contributing 71% of total RGPs and recording 2.7% growth in traffic. The Latin America and Caribbean region saw notable expansion, with a 13.1% growth in seat capacity driven by GOL’s Sao Paulo – Aruba and LATAM’s Lima – Aruba services. While European capacity declined by 20.2%, overall load factors across all markets remained healthy.

PRAGUE AIRPORT

JetBlue led the market by RGP share (19%), followed by American Airlines (17%), Delta (15%), United (13%), and Copa (4%). Leading origin gateways included the New York tri-state area (21% of seats), Boston (14%), and Toronto, Atlanta and Miami (each 6%).

Looking ahead

With steady capacity projections and continued development of the Gateway 2030 program, Aruba Airport remains focused on strengthening its strategic air service network and delivering a seamless experience for travelers.
