Aruba Airport strengthening connectivity and capacity in 2025

Aruba Airport opened a US-bound Check-In Terminal during the second quarter

During the first half of 2025, Aruba Airport (AUA) recorded solid growth and operational progress. Passenger traffic rose 6% year-on-year, with the gateway now offering direct connections to more than 30 destinations served by 26 airline partners, further strengthening its position as one of the Caribbean’s most connected hubs.

Seat capacity increased 2%, reaching just over 1.03 million across 7,280 flights, up 4% on the same period last year. Average load factors remained strong at 85.1%, a gain of 0.3 percentage points.

Infrastructure development continues to play a central role in Aruba Airport’s long-term strategy. A major milestone was reached in the second quarter with the opening of the new US-bound Check-In Terminal, a key Gateway 2030 project that streamlines the pre-clearance process by removing baggage recheck and secondary security screening for US-bound travelers.

Complementary upgrades include fully modernised eGates, ongoing taxiway rehabilitation, and the rollout of a Passenger Flow Control system to better manage peak traffic.

Within the broader Caribbean market, Aruba Airport continues to position itself as a regional leader in connectivity and service quality. Its pre-clearance facilities give it a unique advantage for US-bound travel, while its growing European links provide an important bridge between the Caribbean and transatlantic markets.

By combining strong leisure demand with expanding business and transfer traffic, AUA is strengthening its role as a strategic hub in the region, supporting both local tourism and wider regional mobility.

Looking ahead, the airport plans to introduce self-service bag drop technology by winter 2025 and develop a Food Truck Forecourt to enhance the landside passenger experience.

With a clear focus on connectivity, capacity, and collaboration, Aruba Airport is committed to delivering sustainable growth, enhancing passenger experience and supporting airline partners in unlocking new opportunities across the Caribbean and beyond.
