Buffalo Niagara International – the cross-border airport connecting regions and nations

Welcome to Buffalo Airport
Buffalo Niagara International Airport will boast 28 nonstop routes this year

Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) plays a pivotal role as a key transportation hub for the region. As the larger of the two airports operated by the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA), it handles approximately five million passengers annually, with a notable 20% originating from Canada. The airport’s strategic location between Toronto in Canada, and Rochester in New York state, positions it as a vital gateway for both national and international travellers.

The geographical proximity to the Canadian border enhances BUF’s appeal, making it an integral point of entry for visitors from across the globe. Buffalo, along with the immediate catchment area surrounding BUF, boasts the second-largest population base in the entire state of New York, underscoring the airport’s significance in regional air travel.

BUF serves as the primary airport for the city and offers a diverse range of airlines, including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, and seasonal charter services to Mexico via Vacation Express.

Buffalo’s strategic location is reflected in BUF’s extensive list of nonstop routes, connecting the city to major destinations across the United States. With approximately 100 daily flights, the airport facilitates travel to cities such as Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C., among others. Starting 9th April of this year, it will add a nonstop service to Nashville to its ever-growing portfolio of destinations for a total of 28 routes.
