Burbank welcomes Allegiant & Breeze; Southwest remains the top carrier

Breeze at Burbank

Hollywood Burbank Airport – or just Burbank – has welcomed two new airlines so far this year. On 5 February, Breeze Airways made its debut, flying from Provo. On 12 February, Allegiant appeared, initially from Provo and Bellingham. Both carriers have more routes starting soon.

In 2025, Burbank welcomed 6.29 million passengers, which was down by 4% year-over-year. This was due to cuts by American, Frontier, JetBlue and Spirit, along with Avelo, which closed its base and exited the airport in October 2025. It was still the airport’s second-best year on record.

Southwest is the top airline

When regional units are combined with mainline operations, 11 airlines will serve Burbank in Q2 2026 (April-June). According to Cirium schedule data, they plan 1.08 million one-way seats, down by 6% year-over-year. These figures exclude JSX, as its data remains unavailable.

With 607,000 one-way seats, down by 12%, Southwest remains Burbank’s largest airline. It is the airline’s 23rd-busiest airport out of 122 in its network in the examined three months.

It plans 16 routes, with Las Vegas being its most-served city. Five routes are within California, with the intrastate market having half of its capacity. Compared to Q2 2025, two routes have joined its map: San Francisco (March 2026; last served in January 2024) and Santa Rosa (April 2026). However, it has ceased flying to Houston HOU and Kansas City.

31 airports are served in Q2

Burbank’s network in the three months consists of 31 airports, all of which are domestic. (This figure excludes JSX’s offering.) They are in 18 states, with California accounting for 37% of Burbank’s capacity. Six airports are served: Eureka, Oakland, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose and Santa Rosa. Missouri is the least-served state, with Southwest offering weekend-only flights to St. Louis from June.

Compared to Q2 2025, Cirium indicates that Burbank has gained five destinations: Bellingham, Des Moines, Honolulu, Indianapolis and Provo. Of these, only Honolulu has been served before (until 2005). Five airports are no longer served: Houston HOU, Kalispell, Kansas City, Medford and Salem.

With 172,000 one-way seats (excluding JSX), Las Vegas remains Burbank’s most-served destination. It is also its shortest. Some 88-weekly departures are available in May, which are provided by Southwest (63), Spirit (21) and Frontier (4). Multiple other airlines have served this market in the past.
