easyJet carries ten millionth Birmingham passenger

easyJet is celebrating carrying more than ten million passengers to and from Birmingham Airport since launching operations at the airport in 2007.
To mark the milestone, the airline surprised two passengers, who were travelling from Birmingham to Marrakesh, with a pair of return flights to any destination on easyJet’s network.
easyJet’s first service from Birmingham operated to Geneva in 2007. The airline subsequently opened a base at the airport in March 2024.
Since opening the base, easyJet has tripled the number of destinations available from Birmingham and now offers 45 routes across Europe and North Africa. The airline is operating its largest-ever summer programme from the airport this year.
A sixth aircraft has also joined the Birmingham base this summer, enabling further growth in flights and package holidays. The carrier will introduce a new route to Copenhagen during the upcoming winter season.
easyJet holidays began offering packages from Birmingham when the airline opened its base in March 2024. The tour operator now provides thousands of holiday packages from the airport to destinations across Europe and North Africa.
Kevin Doyle, Country Manager at easyJet UK, said: “This is a fantastic milestone for easyJet as we celebrate carrying over ten million passengers from Birmingham Airport, where we continue going from strength to strength. We have more than tripled the size of our network at Birmingham in the past two years and doubled the number of aircraft we base at the airport, supporting jobs and connectivity for the region. We focused on offering great value fares and more choice for our customers in the Midlands, and we can’t wait to welcome even more passengers onboard for what will be our biggest ever summer in Birmingham.”
Matt Hazelwood, Chief Commercial Officer of Birmingham Airport, added: “We’re delighted to celebrate easyJet’s 10 millionth passenger at Birmingham Airport. Since launching services here in 2007, easyJet has steadily grown its operation and is now one of our major airline partners. We look forward to welcoming even more easyJet customers in the years ahead.”
