easyJet has served Scotland for 31 years; now has 93 routes in the peak summer
easyJet launched operations nearly 31 years ago, in November 1995. The LCC initially flew from London LTN to Glasgow and shortly thereafter to Edinburgh. Flights from LTN to Aberdeen began in January 1996, followed by those to Inverness in November 1996. All four routes remain served today.
Scotland remains an important part of easyJet’s full network. In Q3 2026 (July-September), Cirium schedule data shows that the carrier has 1.4 million one-way seats from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness. Capacity has jumped by 6% year-over-year to reach a new record. Seats at Inverness and Edinburgh are at their highest level to date, while Glasgow is not far behind.
93 routes from Scottish airports
When easyJet’s full network is examined, the LCC will fly to 151 airports across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East in Q3. With 773,000 one-way seats, Edinburgh will be the ninth most-served airport. Glasgow ranks 18th, Inverness is 73rd and Aberdeen is 100th.
In the same three months last year, 149 airports were part of easyJet’s network. At that time, Edinburgh ranked 13th, Glasgow was 18th, Inverness was 74th and Aberdeen was 103rd. easyJet is the largest airline at Inverness and Glasgow but is second to Ryanair at Edinburgh and is fourth behind British Airways, Loganair and KLM at Aberdeen.
Edinburgh’s rise, from 13th to ninth place, in a year is notable. This was on the back of a 6% rise in capacity. This expansion was influenced by four routes: Barcelona (27 October 2025; 4-weekly in August 2026), Belfast City (26 October 2025; 7-weekly), Ljubljana (1 April 2026; 2-weekly), and Malaga (28 October 2025; 2-weekly). Only Malaga was previously served (in 2022). However, it has ceased flying to Bodrum and Düsseldorf.
Between July and September, 49 routes are available from the Scottish capital. 37 are on sale from Glasgow, along with four from Inverness and three from Aberdeen. Additions year-over-year include Glasgow to Lanzarote, Lisbon, Malta, Pisa, Sharm el-Sheikh and Tenerife TFS, along with Inverness to Bristol and Aberdeen to Paris CDG.
Edinburgh-London LGW is the new top route
easyJet has 93 routes from Scotland in Q3. In descending order of seat capacity, the top five destination airports are London LGW, Bristol, London LTN, Belfast BFS and London STN. The least-served airport is Pula, which is only served from Glasgow. 28% of capacity is to London airports, although it is ‘only’ second-largest operator after British Airways.
easyJet has flights from Scotland to 21 countries, with the five most served being the UK, Spain, France, Italy and Switzerland. The domestic market accounts for 55% of the capacity with 24 routes. Two routes exist from Aberdeen, four from Inverness and nine from both Edinburgh and Glasgow. Malta has the lowest capacity and has not been served from Scotland this year.
With 61,000 one-way seats, Edinburgh to London LGW is the top market. It has jumped from third place in Q3 2025, overtaking Edinburgh to Belfast BFS (due to the new route to Belfast BHD) and Bristol. BA last operated regularly from the Scottish capital to the UK’s second-busiest airport in 2020.
