Europe has record non-stop capacity to Vietnam; 3 countries gain new routes in 2026

Nearly 3.3 million passengers travelled between Europe and Vietnam last year. Most people flew via a hub en route, especially Istanbul IST, Dubai, Doha, Shanghai PVG and Bangkok. The top country markets were Russia, Germany, the UK, France and Italy.
The most popular nations without non-stop service were Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Czechia and Austria. Things are changing. On 16 June 2026, Amsterdam welcomed Vietnam Airlines from Hanoi (3-weekly). On 10 October 2026, Prague will have VietJet service from Hanoi via Almaty (2-weekly).

The non-stop market between Europe and Vietnam is still relatively underdeveloped, but it is now fast-growing and at record capacity. In 2025, Cirium schedule data shows over a million one-way seats, which has risen by almost a third in 2026. Until 2010, only Russia, France and Germany were served. Since then, multiple other European nations have joined the network.

12 European countries have flights to Vietnam in 2026
Cirium data shows that 12 European nations have flights to the Southeast Asian nation this year. The big growth year-over-year is due to Russia’s expansion, which now accounts for a quarter of the capacity. Russia’s growth is especially due to Hanoi (+99%) and the inbound tourist gateways of Nha Trang (+84%) and Phu Quoc (+74%).
The growth is also because of the launch of service from Belarus, Czechia and the Netherlands. Prague and Amsterdam were mentioned above. They were joined by Belavia’s 27 June 2026 launch of Minsk-Nha Trang (3-weekly) flights.
The doubling of capacity to Italy was because Vietnam Airlines commenced Hanoi-Milan MXP on 1 July 2025 (3-weekly), with this new route benefiting from full year capacity in 2026. Denmark’s growth, from a miniscule base, is because of Vietnam Airlines’ launch of Ho Chi Minh City-Copenhagen on 16 December 2025 (3-weekly).
When flag carriers are considered, the market is only served by Aeroflot, Air France, Belavia, Vietnam Airlines and Turkish Airlines. Compared to 2025, Belavia is new, while Aeroflot’s capacity has grown by 103% and Vietnam Airlines’ offering is up by a quarter. Other notable market developments in 2026 include the start of flights by the LCC VietJet.

Moscow SVO to the inbound resort of Nha Trang is number one
With 179,000 one-way seats, Moscow SVO to Nha Trang is the most-served market. 12-weekly departures exist in July, all provided by Aeroflot. Other airlines, including Nordwind and Ikar, operated through June this year.
Excluding Russia, Turkish Airlines’ Hanoi route ranks first. The capital of Vietnam has been part of its passenger network for a decade. Record capacity is available in the full-year 2026, with a daily flight in July and a 10-weekly operation in the winter. Thirteen times more passengers connected to another flight in Istanbul IST than were local.
