Leeds Bradford-headquartered Jet2.com has existed for more than two decades. Twenty-one years later, it opened its 11th base at Liverpool in early 2024, with its 12th base at Bournemouth starting in 2025.

Traffic has grown by a fifth compared to 2019

The UK Civil Aviation Authority indicates that Jet2.com carried 17.3 million passengers in 2023. That was about 12% more than its previous record in 2022 and 20% above the pre-pandemic 2019. It transported approximately one in seven passengers carried by UK-only airlines last year.

67 airports will be served in August 2024

Cirium schedules information shows that Jet2.com plans 12% more flights in August 2024 than it did last year. Available seats are up by slightly less due to a slight reduction in average seats per flight.

The airline’s August network comprises 67 airports, 12 of which are in the UK. The remaining 55 airports are in 15 countries. Spain accounts for 47% of August flights, rising to 85% when Türkiye, Greece, and Portugal are added.

Comparing Jet2.com’s August 2024 airport list with August 2023 shows that it has increased by a net of just one. Liverpool and Porto have been added. Liverpool flights began on 28 March 2024 with the base opening, with 20 August routes, while Porto will have one route – Manchester – beginning on 4 July (2-weekly). However, the Greek island of Mykonos has been removed. It was first on Jet2’s route map in 2021 and was only served from Manchester.

Manchester is the leading base, but Palma de Mallorca is the top destination

Nine of the Jet2.com’s top 15 airports are bases. Of these nine, it is the largest airline by flights at Birmingham, Leeds Bradford and Newcastle; number two at London STN and East Midlands (both after Ryanair); third at Manchester and Bristol (behind easyJet and Ryanair); and fourth at Edinburgh (after easyJet, Ryanair and British Airways) and Glasgow (behind easyJet, Loganair and BA). Looking at seats instead would change some of these rankings.

Palma de Mallorca remains Jet2.com’s leading destination and is one of 13 Spanish airports served in August. Only Greece has more destinations (14). As is usually the case with the carrier’s larger destinations, it serves Palma from all 11 bases. Palma is so important that, across Jet2.com’s entire route network, it is present in the top four routes, which are from Manchester, Leeds Bradford, Birmingham and London STN.
