London Luton Airport: driving growth, delivering choice

London Luton

New routes, even greater choice of destinations, and a newly refurbished runway, London Luton Airport (LTN), the UK’s fifth busiest airport, is cementing its position as an airport of choice for business and leisure passengers.

As easyJet, Jet2, Ryanair and Wizz Air all continue to bolster their LTN route networks, and with peak summer 2026 slots available, the airport is perfectly placed to capitalise on London’s aviation demand.

With a catchment of 12 million people within a 1-hour drive (including North-West London), and 22 million within a 2-hour drive, LTN recently retained its ranking as one of the top ten airports globally for low-cost airlines in the Skytrax World Airport Awards for the second consecutive year.

Alongside this, LTN is also poised to capitalise on a regional investment boom. “The new Universal Studios, opening in 2031 just 20 miles from LTN, positions the airport as the perfect gateway for the new resort. Around 30% of the resort’s predicted 8.5 million during its first year are expected to travel through LTN.”

Simon Harley, Interim Director of Aviation at LTN, commented: “London Luton Airport’s broad appeal positions us as an airport of choice for both business and leisure travel. Our growing route network underlines our commitment to offer even greater choice and a simple, friendly passenger experience. Enhancing connectivity is key and this year LTN is committing £1.5 million to enhance public transport links including rail, bus, and coach connections. Future developments, including the East West Rail project, will further strengthen links between Oxford, Bedford, and Cambridge, elevating LTN’s connectivity further.”

LTN’s ever broadening network of routes and destinations means even greater flexibility and choice. Summer 26 will see Jet2 launch even more destinations including Kerkyra, Kos, Preveza, Skiathos and Menorca, driven by strong demand that has led to a 43% increase in capacity for summer 2026.

Later in the year, easyJet will launch flights from LTN to Ljubljana, while Wizz Air has strengthened its presence with new routes to Bilbao, Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Alicante, and Seville, alongside services to Greece, France, Portugal, Germany and Armenia.

FlyOne Romania is introducing flights to Bucharest in May.
