Montpellier Airport expands network and boosts frequencies for summer 2026

Montpellier Méditerranée Airport (MPL) entered the 2026 summer season with steady growth, expanding its route network while increasing frequencies on key services.
Backed by a diversified airline base and rising capacity, the airport continues to strengthen its connectivity and position as an important gateway in southern France.
The 2026 summer season began with the first inaugural flight to Manchester on 30 March, operated by easyJet. The next new destination, Djerba, followed on 20 April with Transavia.
In total, six new routes operated by four different airlines are being introduced this summer. Further additions include Stockholm with Norwegian Air Shuttle and Dublin with Aer Lingus in May, followed by Tangiers and Malaga in July, both operated by Transavia.
With almost 1,460,000 seats (+3% vs S25) offered by fourteen carriers serving 39 destinations across 17 countries during the summer 2026 season, Montpellier Méditerranée Airport is reaffirming its appeal and growing influence in this part of southern France.
The newly introduced routes and markets reflect MPL’s network development strategy, which is built on a well-balanced portfolio of airlines spanning legacy, hybrid and low-cost models.
The airport also maintains a diversified competitive landscape, with five airlines each holding between 10% and 25% market share.
In addition, a strong mix of VFR, leisure, tourism, and both inbound and outbound traffic helps reduce MPL’s exposure to volatile market conditions and geopolitical turbulence.
New routes are being complemented by increased frequencies on established services, further enhancing connectivity to global markets.
Air France will operate up to six daily flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, while SWISS is adding a third weekly service to Zurich, and Royal Air Maroc is similarly consolidating its Casablanca operations.
KLM will introduce a second weekly flight to Amsterdam on Sundays from September 2026. easyJet is increasing frequencies on its London Gatwick route with two additional weekly services, offering up to twelve weekly flights during the peak period.
Finally, Transavia is strengthening its schedule from MPL with an extra weekly flight to Marrakech, Tunis and Rabat, with the latter resuming earlier than in summer 2025, on 22 April.
