New Route of the Day (1 September 2026): Ryanair between Venice and Budapest

Ryanair commenced flights between Venice and Budapest on Tuesday 1 September. The 575-kilometre route will be maintained 4-weekly, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with the 737 fleet. The ULCC competes directly against Wizz Air which runs 3-weekly rotations between the two cities.
Ryanair last maintained the route in October 2017.
Ryanair with 83 routes from Veneto region
Ryanair is operating its largest-ever summer schedule in Italy’s Veneto region this year, offering more than 5.2 million seats across 83 routes from Venice Marco Polo, Treviso and Verona. The programme includes three new routes from Venice Marco Polo to Budapest, Seville and Alicante, all launching in September.
The expansion further strengthens Ryanair’s presence in north-eastern Italy and follows continued cooperation with airport operator SAVE, with the carrier increasing both capacity and destination choice across its Veneto network.
Budapest Airport sees record summer
Budapest Airport is experiencing another strong summer season, with more than 15 million seats available across 160 destinations. The airport’s network has been boosted by the return of transatlantic services, with American Airlines resuming daily flights to Philadelphia and Air Canada returning to Toronto four times per week, while connectivity to Asia has expanded with the arrival of Asiana Airlines on the Seoul route.
Low-cost carriers have also driven significant growth, adding 17 new European services and 12 new destinations during the summer season.
Budapest Airport handled 11,711,670 passengers between January and July 2026, representing an increase of 7.2% on the same period last year. July itself was a record month, with 2,141,350 passengers, up 16% year-on-year and marking the first time the airport has handled more than two million passengers in a single month.
