What they said
Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, said: “The launch of our flights to Vilnius underscores flydubai’s commitment to expanding direct connectivity to underserved markets. These new flights will play an important role in stimulating tourism and trade flows between the UAE and Lithuania, offering passengers more convenient travel options and opening new opportunities for businesses and visitors in both countries. We look forward to seeing the route gain popularity with our customers and we thank the airport and local authorities for their support and warm welcome to the market.”
Simonas Bartkus, CEO of Lithuanian Airports, added: “The launch of direct flydubai flights at Vilnius Airport is a significant step in expanding our aviation map and strengthening Lithuania’s air connectivity. This new link with one of the most important hubs in the Middle East opens up even more opportunities for both travellers and businesses, while also providing convenient access to more than 200 destinations within the combined flydubai and Emirates network. We particularly appreciate flydubai’s readiness to invest in the development of inbound tourism in the Baltic States, which is crucial for ensuring the success of flights throughout the year. We are confident that the Dubai route will become an attractive and consistent choice for our passengers.”
Europe is flydubai’s fastest-growing market
flydubai has 2.3 million one-way seats to Europe. It is the airline’s third-largest geographic area by capacity, behind the Middle East (4.5 million) and Asia (3.2 million). However, its European presence is much stronger than Africa (758,000).
Its European seats have grown more year-over-year than anywhere else (+9%). They are almost double the airline’s percentage expansion. As such, this continent has grown to constitute nearly 22% of flydubai’s total capacity.
flydubai serves 21 European countries. Compared to 2024, Latvia, Lithuania and Moldova have joined its network. Russia and Türkiye hold 45% of the airline’s total European capacity.
