New Route of the Day (12 June 2026): Kuwait Airways between Kuwait City and Zurich

Kuwait Airways commenced operations between Kuwait City and Zurich on Friday 12 June. The 3,935-kilometre service will be maintained 3-weekly, on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with the A321neo aircraft. The Gulf carrier does not face any competition between the two cities.

Flight KU169 departs Kuwait City at 08:30 local time, arriving in Zurich at 14:00 local time. The return service, operating as flight KU170, takes off at 15:00 local time, touching back down in Kuwait at 21:45 local time.

Kuwait Airways returns to Zurich after 45 years

Kuwait Airways last served Zurich from its hub in 1981. The carrier becomes the sixth from the Gulf region to serve Zurich, joining Etihad Airways (Abu Dhabi), Emirates (Dubai), Qatar Airways (Doha), SAUDIA (Riyadh and Jeddah) and Oman Air (Muscat).

These six airlines operate 55-weekly flights to Zurich this summer, with Etihad operating the highest frequency at 19-weekly flights, while Emirates leads in capacity with 5,656 seats per week in each direction.

Despite being a new entrant in the market, Kuwait Airways will be the fifth-largest Gulf carrier in Zurich, ahead of Oman Air, with close to 500 seats per week.

Together, the six airlines will offer 13,162 seats per week in each direction.
