New Route of the Day (13 December 2023): skyalps between Bolzano and London STN

skyalps has begun serving the UK market with the launch of 2-weekly flights between Bolzano in Italy and London STN. Flights on the 1,010-kilometre route will operate every Wednesday and Sunday until 14 April 2024 using the airline’s Q400s.

Located in the province of South Tyrol in Northern Italy, Bolzano lies around 90 kilometres south of Innsbruck and is close to a number of popular ski resorts. skyalps is the only airline currently offering scheduled flights from the airport, which had its runway extended to just over 1,450 metres in 2021.

According to Cirium data, in the first quarter of 2024 skyalps will be offering flights to Bolzano from seven airports across Europe; three in Germany (Berlin, Düsseldorf and Hamburg), two in Denmark (Billund and Copenhagen) as well as Antwerp in Belgium and London STN. During the summer season the airline has offered flights to various destinations in Croatia, Germany and Italy.

Stansted had non-stop flights to 26 destinations in Italy in 2023

Bolzano becomes the 26th airport in Italy that has had non-stop flights from Stansted in 2023. In alphabetical order they are Alghero, Ancona, Bari, Bologna, Bolzano, Brindisi, Cagliari, Catania, Genoa, Lamezia Terme, Milan BGY, Milan MXP, Naples, Olbia, Palermo, Perugia, Pescara, Pisa, Rimini, Rome CIA, Rome FCO, Trapani, Trieste, Turin, Venice VCE and Verona. The majority of these routes (23) are operated by Ryanair and some are only seasonal. Jet2.com serves five airports in Italy while TUI Airways serves Turin, a ski market, in winter.
