FMM - PMI

Eurowings finally added the southern German airport at Memmingen to its route network when it introduced 3-weekly service to its hub at Palma de Mallorca on Saturday 14 May. It will also operate flights om Tuesdays and Thursdays for the rest of the summer using its A320-series fleet. Competition on the 1,115-kilometre route comes from Ryanair, which is offering 9-weekly service on the route, with two daily flights on Thursdays and Sundays. Eurowings’s predecessor, germanwings had operated low-frequency domestic flights from Berlin and Hamburg to the Bavarian airport from December 2013 to March 2015.

Eurowings will fly from 19 German airports this summer

With the launch of flights to Memmingen, Eurowings will now be operating from a total of 19 German airports this summer, compared with 18 in August 2019. Apart from having transferred its Berlin flights from Tegel to the new airport, it has also dropped flights to Heringsdorf (served from Düsseldorf and Stuttgart) but added service from Frankfurt (a 3-weekly service to Pristina).

Eurowings in Germany in S22

According to analysis of Cirium schedule data Eurowings will be offering 23% fewer flights from German airports in August 2022 compared with August 2019. All of its biggest airports have seen cuts by between 15% and 25%, although the shift in Berlin airports has seen the carrier cut flights there by almost 50%, as it now faces head-to-head competition with easyJet and Ryanair. However, a few airports have seen an increase in flights, including Dortmund.
