The route will conclude on 26 September.

What they said

Sam Capron, Senior Network Planning Manager at British Airways, said: “The United Kingdom remains an important source market for tourism. This route further strengthens that connection by making it easier for British travellers to discover Montenegro’s natural beauty, rich heritage and warm hospitality. With direct flights from London to Tivat, we are opening the door to the Adriatic coast, supporting tourism development and delivering tangible value to the local economy and community.”

Roko Tolic, CEO of operator Airport of Montenegro, added: “This is truly a landmark day for Airports of Montenegro and the culmination of our efforts to take Montenegro’s air connectivity to the next level. The strength and significance of the British Airways brand, together with our new connection through the airline to Heathrow, one of Europe’s largest and busiest aviation hubs, will bring major benefits both to the citizens of Montenegro and to the country’s tourism industry, which gains strong support and an important new dimension to its offering. I sincerely believe this opportunity will be fully embraced and utilised to its fullest potential.”

Heathrow – Tivat returns after two decades

The new service marks the resumption of nonstop flights between London LHR and the Montenegrin coast after 20 years. The route was last served in 2006 by Jat Airways, the former flag carrier of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, which has since dissolved with both nations becoming independent. Jat Airways went on to rebrand as Air Serbia.

Tivat Airport handled 1.3 million passengers in 2025, representing an increase of 19.5% on the previous year. Located on Montenegro’s Adriatic Coast, Tivat Airport is highly seasonal. Previously, the bulk of its summer traffic was made up of tourists from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, however, since the Russia – Ukraine war, the airport has managed to seek out new markets. In 2019, 48% of the airport’s total passengers were on the Moscow service alone.
