New Route of the Day (17 June 2024): SalamAir between Muscat and Tirana


SalamAir inaugurated seasonal flights between Muscat and Tirana on Monday 17 June, becoming the first Omani carrier to serve the Albanian market. The 4,080-kilometre service will be maintained 2-weekly, on Mondays and Thursdays with the 180-seat A320neo aircraft. Flights will run until 28 August.

Flight OV931 takes off from Muscat at 09:00 local time, arriving in Tirana at 13:00 local time. The return service, operating at flight OV932, is wheels up from the Albanian capital at 13:45 local time, touching back down in Oman at 21:15 local time.

SalamAir now serves three European destinations

Albania becomes the second European market to be served by the Omani LCC, the other being Türkiye. In total, SalamAir has 11-weekly flights across three routes. Apart from the new Tirana service, they include Trabzon (5-weekly) and Istanbul SAW (4-weekly).

SalamAir had previously also served Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Prague in the Czech Republic on a seasonal summer basis in Europe, however, both have been discontinued.

SalamAir began operations in 2017 and currently has a fleet of 14 passenger aircraft; six A320neos, seven larger A321neos and one A321ceo. According to Cirium data for June, SalamAir now flies from Oman to 18 countries with Saudi Arabia, India and Pakistan being the leading country markets for flights.
