New Route of the Day 2 (13 March 2023): El Al between Tel Aviv and Porto

TLV-OPO

El Al added a new European destination to its network on Monday 13 March with the introduction of seasonal flights between Tel Aviv and Porto in Portugal. The 3,985-kilometre 2-weekly service is being maintained by its leisure brand Sun d’Or on Mondays and Wednesdays with the 737-800 aircraft. There is no other operator between the two cities. Porto becomes El Al’s second destination in Portugal after Lisbon, which it currently serves 4-weekly.

Flight LY5163 departs Tel Aviv at 15:15 local time, arriving in Porto at 19:15 local time. The inbound service, LY5164, takes off at 20:30 local time and arrives in Tel Aviv at 03:50 local time the following day.

El Al adds four new routes in March

The introduction of flights between Tel Aviv and Porto is part of El Al’s wider March expansion, which includes the launch of a further three routes.

  • 1 March: Tokyo NRT2-weekly
  • 16 March: Dublin, 2-weekly
  • 30 March: Istanbul IST, 3-weekly

Notably, the Israeli carrier is resuming operations to Turkey following a 16-year hiatus, as diplomatic relations between the two countries begin to improve. Similar to Porto, the service will be operated under the Sun d’Or brand.
