New Route of the Day 2 (3 December 2021): Ryanair between Stockholm ARN and Skelleftea

ARN-SFT Apron Ryanair returned to Skelleftea in north-east Sweden on Friday 3 December, when it commenced 2-weekly service from its new base at Stockholm ARN. The 580-kilometre domestic sector will be flown on Mondays and Fridays this winter with an additional service on Wednesdays commencing on 30 March. Competition on this route comes from SAS, who operate 23-weekly using a mix of their own A320neos and CRJ900s operated by Regional Jet OU. This becomes Ryanair’s third domestic route from Arlanda as it already flies to Gothenburg and Malmö. At the end of March, it will add two more domestic routes to Lulea (daily) and Visby (3-weekly).

Ryanair previously served Girona and Stansted from Skelleftea

Skelleftea welcomed over 400,000 passengers in 2017 and 2018 when Norwegian competed with SAS on the core Arlanda service. However, when the carrier withdrew from the route at the end of S18, passenger numbers fell back to just under 300,000 in 2019. Ryanair has previously served Skelleftea. Between S11 and S14 it served Girona in Spain, while between S14 and S15 it offered 2-weekly flights to London STN.
