New Route of the Day (2 July 2026): TAP Air Portugal between Porto and Praia

TAP Air Portugal introduced flights between Porto and Praia, the capital of Cape Verde, on Thursday 2 July. The 3,250-kilometre service will be maintained 3-weekly, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, with the A320neo aircraft. The Star Alliance member is the sole operator between the two cities. The new route complements existing flights between Lisbon and Praia.
What they said
Sofia Lufinha, Chief Customer Officer at TAP Air Portugal, said: “We have taken another important step in our growth strategy through Porto. Lisbon Airport is heavily congested, so our strategy is not only to deploy larger aircraft from Lisbon, allowing us to carry more passengers, particularly on routes to Brazil, but also to expand through Porto. Porto will become a new hub for TAP, serving as a central platform for connecting flights. It is a great source of pride to see us diversify and grow through this city, which we love so much and where we continue to invest, not only with these new routes but also with the new maintenance hub.”
TAP launches four new routes
The addition of services between Porto and Praia is one of four new routes being introduced by the carrier this July. On 1 July, TAP launched 4-weekly flights between Porto and Terceira Island in the Azores, as well as 5-weekly services between Lisbon and Athens. A day later, on 2 July, it inaugurated 3-weekly flights between Lisbon and Curitiba in Brazil.
TAP now flies to the Cape Verdean islands of Santiago, Sao Vicente, Boa Vista and Sal.
During the 2026 summer season, TAP offers close to 150-weekly flights from Porto. These include long-haul services to Boston, New York EWR, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Luanda, as well as short-haul services to the likes of Paris CDG, London LGW, Geneva and Zurich.
