Air Serbia has continued to expand its network with the addition of a 2-weekly service between Belgrade and Marseille launched on Saturday 20 May. The 1,215-kilometre route will operate 2-weekly, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with the A319 aircraft. The airline faces no competition between the two cities

What they said

Laurent Dubosc, Network Development Business Manager at Marseille Airport, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Air Serbia at Marseille Provence Airport. The national carrier will operate two weekly flights between Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and Marseille Provence, connecting the Serbian community directly to their home-country and bringing additional connectivity to the Balkans and more.”

Bosko Rupic, General Manager for Commercial and Strategy at Air Serbia, added: “We are continuing to expand our network, while striving to bring more destinations in Europe closer to our passengers. The national airline offers good connections from Marseille, via Belgrade, to other destinations in its network.”

Belgrade linked to five airports in France

Belgrade Airport, which is run by the French operator VINCI, is now linked to five points in France. Three of them are maintained by Air Serbia, while the other two by ULCC Wizz Air. In addition to Marseille, Air Serbia also operates flights to Paris CDG and Lyon, the latter having been added to its network last year. On the other hand, Wizz Air maintains services from the Serbian capital to Paris BVA and Nice.

Belgrade Airport has recorded above-average passenger growth so far this year, thanks in part to Air Serbia’s major network expansion of over 20 new routes, as well as the expansion of the airport’s long-haul network. Between January and April, Belgrade handled almost 1.9 million passengers, representing an increase of 26% on the same period during the pre-pandemic 2019.
