New Route of the Day (21 November 2025): Wizz Air between Bratislava and Kosice
Wizz Air introduced flights between Bratislava and Kosice on Friday 21 November, marking the resumption of domestic operations in Slovakia. The 305-kilometre hop will be maintained 9-weekly, with 2-daily flights on Mondays and Fridays. The carrier will deploy its 239-seat A321neo aircraft on the route.

Domestic flights resume after six years
Bratislava and Kosice, Slovakia’s two largest cities, were last linked with a scheduled air service more than six years ago. At the time, the now-defunct Czech Airlines maintained operations between the two cities with its ATR fleet. The service was discontinued in January 2019 after six years of operations.
Following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, the newly independent Slovakia lacked a strong domestic network. Over the years several carriers tried, including Danube Wings, which operated regional scheduled services, including domestic ones using ATR-72 aircraft. Smartwings Slovakia also maintained operations between Bratislava and Kosice between 2015 and 2017.
Following independence, Slovakia’s relatively compact geography has limited demand for internal air travel, resulting in just two scheduled domestic routes being operated: Bratislava – Kosice, linking the capital with the country’s largest city in the east, and Bratislava – Poprad-Tatry, providing air access to the High Tatras region.
