New Route of the Day (22 June 2026): SAS between Copenhagen and Visby

CPH-VBY

SAS launched seasonal operations between Copenhagen and Visby, on the Swedish island of Gotland, on Monday 22 June. The 420-kilometre hop will be maintained 3-weekly, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, primarily with the ATR72-600 turboprop, although the A320 is also scheduled on some days.

Operations will be maintained until 16 August.

SAS with record Q3 capacity in Copenhagen

When all of SAS’s operations are considered, the SkyTeam airline has scheduled 10.3 million seats in Q3 2026 (July-September). Compared to the same three months last year, its offering has jumped 4.1%. It marks the airline’s third-highest Q3 capacity on record.

Some five million two-way seats are available to/from Copenhagen, which is overwhelmingly SAS’s most-served hub. It has over two million more seats than Stockholm ARN, which ranks second.

PRAGUE AIRPORT

In recent times, SAS has increasingly focused on Copenhagen as its primary hub. It has never been more important. The airline is planning record capacity in the examined three months. Available seats have jumped by 16.3% compared to last year’s record, while they are up by 35.2% compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019. This is despite the implementation of some cuts to its network compared to its original plan as a result of the crisis in the aviation industry caused by the war in Iran.

Nine new routes

SAS is operating nine additional routes this Q3 when compared to last year. In addition to Visby, they include Vienna, Riga, Marseille, Tel Aviv, Luxembourg, Istanbul IST, Mumbai and Bordeaux.

SAS is already present in Visby with its flights from Stockholm ARN. The only other airlines serving the airport are Finnair from Helsinki and Norwegian from the Swedish capital.

Visby is the largest town on Sweden’s island of Gotland and one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Northern Europe. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is renowned for its remarkably intact 13th-century city walls, cobbled streets, historic churches and colourful merchant houses. Visby is a popular tourist destination, particularly during the summer months.
