New Route of the Day (22 May 2026): Jet2.com between Newcastle and Porto

What they said
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “We are delighted to be introducing the first of several new destinations for summer 2026 from Newcastle Airport and to see the first flights to these hotspots depart over the next few weeks. We have no doubt that these new routes will prove popular and we are very much looking forward to taking customers on their well-deserved holidays this summer and showcasing our award-winning credentials.”
Leon McQuaid, Director of Aviation Development at Newcastle Airport, added: “It’s fantastic to see Jet2 expand its summer 2026 programme from Newcastle Airport. The exciting new destinations it is adding provide our passengers with even more choice and reflect the strong demand for connectivity from the North East to some of Europe’s most popular sunshine and city break hotspots. We’re confident that Jet2’s new routes will be hugely popular, further strengthening the excellent range of destinations available from Newcastle Airport this summer.”
Jet2.com adds three new routes from Newcastle
In addition to Porto, Newcastle is also introducing flights to Palermo on 26 May and Preveza on 27 May.
Jet2.com is one of the dominant carriers at Newcastle Airport and remains its largest leisure airline. The carrier has maintained a base at Newcastle since 2005 and has continued to expand steadily, with its summer 2026 programme being its biggest yet.
For summer 2026, Jet2.com has based nine aircraft at Newcastle, up from eight previously. This makes Newcastle one of Jet2.com’s larger bases, behind only major operations such as Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds Bradford.
