New Route of the Day (22 September 2022): Arajet between Santo Domingo and Mexico City NLU

Arajet (IATA code DM), the new airline that launched recently in the Dominican Republic, began a 3-weekly service between Santo Domingo and Mexico City NLU on Thursday 22 September. The other two weekly flights take place on Mondays and Saturdays. The 3,100-kilometre route will be flown using the airline’s fleet of 737 MAX 8s, of which it currently has five. Although the airline faces no direct competition on this airport-pair, Aeromexico offers daily flights between Mexico City MEX and Santo Domingo using E190s operated on its behalf by Aerolitoral.

Arajet, which was previously known as Dominican Wings, has rebranded and changed its business model to focus on being an Ultra Low-Cost Carrier (ULCC). It launched its first flight as Arajet from Santo Domingo to Barranquilla in Colombia on 15 September.
