New Route of the Day (24 April 2022): Transavia between Paris ORY and Yerevan
The French part of Transavia (IATA code TO) has added a new route on 24 April from its main Paris ORY base to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Initially, flights will be weekly, increasing to 2-weekly (Wednesdays and Saturdays) from the beginning of June. The 3,430-kilometre route faces no direct competition. However, Air France offers 4-weekly service from Paris CDG, with frequency set to increase to daily from June according to Cirium schedule data. While Transavia operates the route with 737-800s, Air France uses A320s on its service.
Almost 90 destinations now served from Orly
This August, Transavia is planning to offer over 750 weekly departures from Orly across a network of some 90 routes. This compares with 430 weekly departures and just over 50 routes in pre-pandemic August 2019. That represents growth of around 80% at France’s second busiest airport. Air Service One previously examined the changing mix of airlines at Orly. This summer, Transavia will be Orly’s biggest carrier, accounting for around one-third of all flights (over 100 departures every day) and seats, more than its nearest rivals (Air France and Vueling) combined.
