What they said
Adrian Hamilton-Manns, CEO of SalamAir, said: “The inclusion of Vienna in our route network comprises a further milestone in the international expansion strategy of SalamAir, underlining our commitment to connect Oman to international markets via affordable and accessible flight connections. Thanks to our ongoing growth, we are strengthening our presence in Asia, Africa and now Europe as well, offering our passengers a greater choice of flights and better connections than ever before. Vienna is an exciting addition to our network, reflecting our aspiration to position ourselves as a leading value airline linking Oman to the rest of the world. Vienna now served by eight Gulf carriers
Vienna Airport is served by a growing number of airlines from the Gulf region. Besides SalamAir, these include Emirates, Etihad Airways, Air Arabia, Kuwait Airways, Qatar Airways, SAUDIA, and flynas. If the list were further expanded to include Middle Eastern airlines, they would be joined by recent entrant Royal Jordanian, as well as Blue Bird Airways and Arkia.
During the height of the 2026 summer season, carriers from the Middle East will maintain 79-weekly flights to Vienna, offering 18,493 seats per week in each direction.
LCC SalamAir commenced operations in 2017 and currently operates a fleet of 17 A320-family aircraft, with over 90-daily flights to 42 destinations. In February 2026, SalamAir announced the Government of Oman had completed its acquisition of a majority stake in the airline. SalamAir is on target to grow its fleet to 25 aircraft by 2028.
