Piervittorio Farabbi, Director of Operations at Tirana Airport, added: “We are happy to now have a new destination. We are pleased that this flight is operated by our national carrier. It is just one of many new flights that Air Albania is planning this year. The fleet is growing. There are already three aircraft, but more will follow. Reaching 12 million passengers is an ambitious goal and our objective for this year is to welcome more passengers.”

Albania is Europe’s fastest growing aviation market

In the first quarter of 2025, Albania maintains its position with the most significant percentile increase in available seat capacity in Europe. This growth is being fuelled by its expanding tourism industry, as well as the ongoing competition between Ryanair and Wizz Air at Tirana Airport. Albania has 2.7 million seats for the first three months of the year, marking a notable 214% increase compared to 2019, equivalent to an additional 1.9 million seats.

Tirana Airport handled a record 10.7 million passengers in 2024, representing an increase of 48% on 2023. Air Albania was Tirana’s third-largest carrier, behind Ryanair and Wizz Air, accounting for just under 5% of total scheduled seat capacity.
