Wizz Air is Italy’s second-largest airline
Tallinn becomes destination number 78 in Wizz Air’s Rome network. In 2026, the LCC will offer over 9.1 million seats from Rome FCO, a 22.5% increase compared to last year, further consolidating the airport’s role as a strategic hub within the airline’s network and where it is the second-largest carrier with a 14.4% market share.
Wizz Air will continue to expand its network from Rome this summer with the launch of new international routes to the Baltics and Northern Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, and key Mediterranean destinations.
The airline is also significantly increasing frequencies and capacity on some of Rome’s most popular routes, such as Palma de Mallorca, Valencia, Malaga, Ibiza, Bilbao, Alicante, Corfu and Santorini, in response to strong leisure demand. At the same time, Wizz Air is strengthening frequencies to Budapest, Krakow, Gdansk, Sofia and Lampedusa this summer.
Across Italy, the airline currently offers 300 routes to 33 countries, operating from 26 airports with a fleet that this year will include 41 A321neo aircraft. In 2025, Wizz Air carried over 21 million passengers to and from Italy, an 8% increase compared to the previous year.
With a 12% market share, Wizz Air is now the second-largest carrier in Italy, aiming to offer more than 31 million seats in 2026.
