New Route of the Day (3 February 2025): LOT Polish Airlines between Warsaw WAW and Lisbon

WARSAW

LOT Polish Airlines continues to expand its network with the introduction of flights between Warsaw WAW and Lisbon on Monday 3 February. The 2,755-kilometre service will initially be maintained 5-weekly, each day with exception to Wednesdays and Saturdays, with a mix of 737-familly aircraft. Frequencies will grow to daily from 24 February.

The flights will complement the 6-weekly service maintained by its Star Alliance partner TAP Air Portugal, and will compete against 3-weekly Wizz Air rotations between the two capitals.

What they said

Robert Ludera, Director of the Flight Network and Alliances Department at LOT, said: “Lisbon is one of Europe’s most enchanting capitals, offering a wealth of experiences. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a lover of scenic walks, a photographer in search of breathtaking shots, or a dedicated foodie, this city has something for everyone. We are delighted that, with the latest additions to our fleet, including the state-of-the-art Boeing 737 MAX 8, we can invite our passengers to discover one of Europe’s most beloved capitals. We also encourage Portuguese travellers to take advantage of seamless transfers via Warsaw to destinations further east. And, of course, we warmly welcome visitors from Lisbon who choose to explore the beauty of Poland during a longer stay.”

LOT is CEE’s third-largest airline

Excluding Russian carriers, LOT Polish Airlines is the third-largest airline serving Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) this winter after Ryanair and Wizz Air. It has more than doubled its capacity over the past decade, primarily on international routes, by 148% and a further 34% on domestic operations.

LOT serves 90 routes this winter, of which 77 are international from Poland, 11 are domestic in Poland and two are international routes that do not touch the airline’s homeland. The latter are Vilnius – London LCY and Budapest – Seoul ICN. It also has Frankfurt – Strasbourg flights, but these are one-stop services that begin/end in WAW.

The 90 routes involve 86 airports in 48 countries. LOT serves 13 Polish airports, six in Germany, five in the US, four in France and three each in Italy, Romania and Spain. Germany remains its top country market where it serves Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart from Warsaw WAW.
