What they said
Victoria Bray, Country Sales Manager UK, Ireland & Benelux at Aegean Airlines, said: “Today marks a new chapter for Aegean in the Netherlands. Operating twice weekly, every Thursday and Sunday, this new connection brings Rotterdam and the wider catchment area even closer to Greece, offering travellers convenient access to Athens and our extensive network beyond.”
Rotterdam’s route network grows to 47 destinations
During the 2026 summer schedule, Rotterdam The Hague Airport’s network comprises 47 destinations, with Oujda, Ankara, Algiers, Catania and Seville, along with Athens, among the additions compared with the previous summer.
Rotterdam expects around 1.71 million passengers during the summer season, 2.4% more than a year earlier.
Aegean’s new service follows the arrival of Romanian carrier AnimaWings in July, which introduced year-round flights to both Bucharest and Timisoara.
Rotterdam is progressing with a phased redevelopment of its terminal, including additional self-service facilities, a new arrivals area and improved retail and catering facilities, with the wider project due to be completed in early 2028.
During the first seven months of the year, the airport handled 1.44 million passengers, an increase of 5.4% on the same period in 2025. Scheduled services accounted for 1.41 million travellers and recorded an even stronger increase of 6.9%.
