New Route of the Day (31 January 2025): ANA between Tokyo HND and Stockholm ARN

ANA chose the last day of January to inaugurate flights between Tokyo HND and Stockholm ARN, its second new destination in Europe in two months. The 8,185-kilometre route will be maintained 3-weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays with the 184-seat 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. The carrier faces no competition between the two cities.
Flight NH221 departs Tokyo HND at 00:30 local time, arriving in Stockholm ARN at 06:20 local time. The return service, operating as flight NH222, takes off from Arlanda Airport 09:35 local time, touching back down at Haneda Airport at 07:20 local time the following morning.
What they said
Hiroyuki Miyagawa, Executive Vice President of ANA, said: “We are delighted to launch our first non-stop flight from Sweden to Japan today. As the number one network between the European region and Japan, we are strengthening Stockholm as a crucial foothold, enhancing connectivity, and fostering the revitalization of exchanges not only within Sweden but also across the Nordic region and our broader European network.”
Jonas Abrahamsson, President and CEO of airport operator Swedavia, added: “I am very happy to welcome ANA – All Nippon Airways – to Stockholm Arlanda Airport. ANA’s investment strengthens Sweden’s connectivity and further improves our range of destinations at the airport for those traveling for business or to visit friends and family. The relationship between Japan and Sweden has a long-standing history and we have a mutual interest in the connectivity between our countries being excellent.”
ANA with 46-weekly flights to Europe
ANA’s new route complements its existing European services from London LHR, Frankfurt, Brussels, Paris CDG, Munich, Vienna and Milan MXP, the latter having been added to the network in December 2024. These will soon be joined by 3-weekly flights from Istanbul IST, launching 13 February.
ANA now boasts 46-weekly flights to Europe, all of which are operated from Tokyo HND, with exception to its Brussels service which runs from Tokyo NRT. The Star Alliance member currently has 9,776 departing seats per week from Tokyo to Europe, which will grow to over 10,000 once the new Istanbul service is launched.
Frankfurt remains ANA’s most frequent destination in Europe, with 2-daily flights, followed by London LHR, Paris CDG and Munich, all of which are served daily.
