New Route of the Day (8 July 2025): Transavia France between Marseille and Annaba

Transavia France introduced seasonal flights between Marseille and Annaba in Algeria on Tuesday 8 July. The 765-kilometre service will be maintained 2-weekly, on Tuesdays and Fridays, with the 737-800 aircraft. The Air France-KLM low-cost subsidiary will compete against daily Air Algerie flights.
What they said
Nicolas Henin, Deputy General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Transavia France, said: “We are very pleased to expand our flight offerings from Marseille. Algeria is a market where we are seeing sustained demand. We were therefore keen to offer new travel opportunities to our customers looking to join their families for the summer holidays.”
Transavia France expands Marseille base
Transavia France is significantly expanding its operations from Marseille during the 2025 summer, positioning the airport as one of its key southern French bases. Building on a strong performance in previous years, the LCC is in the process of adding several new routes. Apart from Annaba, these include Setif, Djerba, Cairo, Funchal and Larnaca.
The carrier will further expand during the upcoming 2025/26 winter season by adding services to Jeddah and Medina in late October, as well as Praia in November. The airline will also introduce operations to Paris ORY in late March 2026.
The growth in Marseille reflects Transavia France’s broader strategy to diversify away from its traditional Paris-centric operations and strengthen its regional footprint.
Marseille Airport registers passenger growth
Marseille Airport handled 4,304,493 passengers during the January – May period, representing an increase of 3.9% year-on-year. Its figures are up 14.1% on the pre-pandemic 2019.
Marseille Airport opened its new terminal in 2024, improving operational efficiency and the passenger experience. The facility features modern security and baggage systems, spacious departure halls and a wider range of retail and dining options. This infrastructure upgrade is central to Marseille’s strategy to position itself as a key regional gateway in southern France, supporting the growth of both full-service and LCCs, including the recently expanded Transavia France base.
