New Route of the Day – Americas (1 June 2026): Air Canada’s new routes from Toronto YTZ

Air Canada added new routes from Toronto YTZ on Monday 1 June, including to Chicago ORD and Washington IAD. Both services will be maintained by the Dash 8 turboprop aircraft. While the 720-kilometre Chicago ORD route will run 2-daily, the 545-kilometre Washington IAD service will be maintained daily, where it faces competition from Porter Airlines operating 2-daily flights.
What they said
Mark Galardo, Air Canada Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, and President, Cargo, said: “This is our most significant expansion at Toronto Island since Air Canada first served the airport 35 years ago. The new transborder routes will especially benefit our loyal customers and business travellers by creating frequent and easy connections between the heart of Canada’s financial capital and the major markets.”
RJ Steenstra, President & CEO Ports Toronto, owner and operator of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, added: “We are delighted to welcome Air Canada’s expanded routes at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport – a milestone that underscores our shared commitment to enhancing connectivity, convenience, and choice for travellers. This expansion of routes not only continues to strengthen Toronto as a place for business and leisure but also reflects confidence in Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport’s role as a gateway to the future of passenger-centric urban air travel. We look forward to working with Air Canada to help shape the next chapter of growth and innovation for the airport and the city and region we proudly serve.”
Air Canada expands at Toronto YTZ
Apart from Chicago ORD and Washington IAD, Air Canada has added 3-daily flights to from Toronto YTZ to Boston earlier this summer and will introduce 4-daily flights to New York LGA in July.
The start of Air Canada’s transborder services from Toronto YTZ follows the opening of US Customs Pre-Clearance at the island airport, a convenience for customers flying to US airports from Canada that allows them to clear US customs before departure.
The only other routes served by Air Canada from Toronto YTZ are Ottawa and Montreal.
