What they said

Ahmet Bolat, Chairman and the Board at Turkish Airlines, said: “We are delighted to add a new route to our expanding flight network. We began our operations to the Americas on August 26, 1988, with flights to New York via Brussels, and 6 years later, on July 16, 1994, we began direct flights to New York. Today, we are proud to fly directly to 14 destinations in the United States, including Denver. This new route will offer our passengers the opportunity to discover the historical and cultural richness of Istanbul and our country.”

Phil Washington, CEO of Denver Airport, added: “Informed by industry data that pointed to increasing passenger demand between our two cities, securing this new partnership is integral to DEN’s Vision 100 goal of expanding our global reach. We thank Turkish Airlines for their investment in Denver and look forward to the trade, travel and tourism between our two regions flourishing.”

Denver targets 100 million passengers

Denver Airport’s Vision 100 and Operation 2045 are two phases of its strategic plan. Vision 100 is phase one and is focused on preparing the airport to serve 100 million annual passengers in the next several years. Operation 2045 is phase two and is focused on preparing the airport for its 50th anniversary in 2045 and for an expected 120 million-plus annual passengers. Both phases combined serve as a blueprint to align decision-making and accountability.

Turkish Airlines with over 150-weekly US flights

Denver becomes Turkish Airlines 14th destination in the US, however, the carrier has announced plans to serve up to 20 cities in the country, including Minneapolis, Charlotte, Philadelphia, and Orlando in the coming years. Prior to Denver, the carrier launched services to Detroit last November.

This summer, Turkish Airlines maintains the most flights to New York JFK in the US with 28-weekly rotations, followed by Washington IAD and Los Angeles, both with 14-weekly services. In total, the airline operates 151-weekly flights from Istanbul IST to the US this summer, offering just over 48,000 departing weekly seats.
