New Route of the Day – Americas (12 September 2024): Norse Atlantic Airways between London LGW and Las Vegas

Norse Atlantic Airways inaugurated flights between London LGW and Las Vegas on Thursday 12 September. The 8,455-kilometre service will be maintained 3-weekly, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, with the 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The carrier competes against British Airways’ 5-weekly rotations between the two cities. Norse Atlantic Airways will maintain flights to Las Vegas on a seasonal basis, until March 2025.

Flight Z0777 departs London LGW at 12:00 local time, arriving in Las Vegas at 14:40 local time. The return service, operating as flight Z0778, takes off from Harry Reid International Airport at 16:45 local time, touching back down in the UK at 10:35 local time the following morning.

Bjorn Tore Larsen, CEO of Norse Atlantic Airways, said: “Passengers are excited to get to Las Vegas. Norse Atlantic is an industry disruptor with its low-cost fares. We hope the company can expand its Las Vegas presence by starting small and building. I hope demand will enable us to add frequencies and it is possible for us to start offering flights from other European cities to Las Vegas as well. If you look at where we fly, you can see that there are other possibilities, but I can’t really identify anything yet. But I’m really happy with this start.”

London LGW handles over 24 million passengers

New long-haul routes and strong demand for travel saw 24.5 million passengers travelling through London LGW during the January- July period. The figure represents an increase of 6.6% on the same period in 2023.

London LGW is now close to overtaking its pre-pandemic passenger figures, reaching 90.8% of its 2019 result. During the first seven months of this year, London LGW was the ninth busiest airport in Europe.

A focus on developing new long-haul routes across the Middle East, Asia and North America is attracting a wider range of passengers. Recent new services include the June introduction of Singapore Airlines flights, Air India’s new service from Bengaluru that started in August, plus new routes by flag carriers to key cities across China.
