New Route of the Day – Americas (2 August 2021): Air Transat between Vancouver and Quebec City
Having only just resumed operations, Canadian leisure carrier Air Transat celebrated by launching a new route on Monday 2 August between Vancouver and Quebec City. The inaugural service on the 3,800-kilometre route (flight number TS 969 operated by an Airbus A321neo registration C-GOIF) departed Vancouver at 11:17 local time and arrived in Quebec City four hours and 38 minutes later at 18:55 local time. The outbound flight from Quebec City to Vancouver (TS 968) actually operated the previous day, on Sunday 1 August. According to Cirium Data and Analytics the two airports have not seen non-stop service since at least 2000.
Air Transat relaunches service with nine routes so far
Air Transat’s resumption of services has seen it launch mostly domestic flights so far; Vancouver to Montreal, Quebec City and Toronto YYZ; Calgary to Montreal and Toronto YYZ; and Montreal to Quebec City. In addition, it is offering international flights in the second week of August from Montreal to Paris CDG (6-weekly, resuming on 5 August), Cancun (weekly) and Punta Cana (weekly). All routes will be operated by the airline’s A321neos which includes 187-seat A321neoLRs.
US routes to Florida (Fort Lauderdale and Orlando) are set to resume in early September, while additional European routes to Lisbon, London LGW and Porto are currently also set to start again in mid-September.
