New Route of the Day – Americas (2 February 2024): Breeze between Tampa and Plattsburgh

Breeze inaugurated seasonal flights between Tampa and Plattsburgh in New York state on Friday 2 February. The 2,025-kilometre service will be maintained 2-weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, with the 137-seat A220-300 aircraft. The carrier faces no competition on the route.

Flight MX174 takes off from Tampa at 07:30 local time, arriving in Plattsburgh at 10:44 local time. The return service, operating as flight MX175, takes off from the city in northeast New York at 11:25 local time, touching back down in Florida at 14:54 local time.

What they said

Tom Doxey, President at Breeze, said: “Breeze’s focus is on connecting underserved markets, adding nonstops between cities without existing service. As we continue to introduce new service from Plattsburgh, we’re proud to bring affordable and convenient new travel options to Florida.”

Breeze grows Plattsburgh presence

Tampa becomes Breeze’s second route out of Plattsburgh with the LCC launching operations to Orlando MCO late last year. The airline now offers a combined total of 1,096 weekly seats to and from Plattsburgh, making it the second-largest airline in the city, behind Allegiant.

Plattsburgh, which has a population of just over 31,000 is best known as the site of the amphibious Battle of Plattsburgh in the War of 1812, a key American victory that marked the end of hostilities in the Northern United States.

Plattsburgh remains a favourite tourist destination for vacationers from Montreal and southern Quebec in Canada. Bombardier has a manufacturing plant in Plattsburgh.

Breeze continues Tampa expansion

Plattsburgh is the third new destination to be introduced by Breeze from Tampa this year, following the launch of its flights from the Florida airport to Gulfport on 12 January and Burlington on 31 January.

The carrier also plans to add services from Tampa to another four destinations.

  • 7 February: Madison
  • 10 May: Myrtle Beach
  • 10 May: Greenville
