New Route of the Day – Americas (22 May 2026): Allegiant Air between Springfield and Gulf Shores

Allegiant Airlines

Allegiant Air introduced flights between Springfield and Gulf Shores in Alabama on Friday 22 May. The 950-kilometre service will be maintained 2-weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, and will be served by A320 family aircraft. The carrier, as the exclusive operator at Gulf Shores, faces no competition.

Flight G41224 departs Springfield at 10:23 local time, arriving in Gulf Shores at 12:12. The return service, operating as flight G41301, takes off at 12:57 local time, touching back down in Springfield at 14:45.

Allegiant Air has added a further four new routes from Gulf Shores in May, including Omaha, Huntsville (Alabama’s only interstate route), Oklahoma City and Louisville, all of which will be maintained 2-weekly.

What they said

Brian Weiler, Director of Aviation at Springfield-Branson National Airport, said: “We know that Gulf Shores is a very popular destination for Southwest Missouri. This region is a beloved leisure destination for our community, and we are excited to add another SGF nonstop destination with Allegiant.”

Jesse Fosanugh, Airport Director of Gulf Shores International Airport, added: “I am so excited to see Allegiant connect the communities of Gulf Shores & Orange Beach to Springfield, Missouri. My wife was born and raised in Branson, Missouri, and having spent the past 16 years of my life working and living in the Ozarks, this announcement holds a special place in my heart. My family started visiting Gulf Shores about five years ago, and it was clear we weren’t the only ones in love with Alabama’s white sugar-sand beaches. Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are uniquely known for being family-friendly. In addition to the beaches, you can enjoy countless attractions, dining options, biking and hiking trails, experience thriving eco-tourism and charter fishing. I’m already booking trips to see our friends, and I know they’ll be visiting us a lot more too!”

Gulf Shores reaches thirteen routes a year after opening

A year after launching its first-ever commercial flights, Gulf Shores International Airport is seeing steady demand as Allegiant Air continues to expand its service.

Gulf Shores International is served exclusively by Allegiant. The airport opened last May with seven destinations, added three more soon after and will offer 13 destinations by this summer with 30-weekly flights.

The airport is on course to surpass 150,000 passengers in its first year of operation. At that level, it would finish just behind Montgomery Regional Airport as Alabama’s fourth-busiest commercial airport.
