New Route of the Day – Americas (25 January 2024): Porter Airlines between Toronto YYZ and San Francisco

Porter Airlines commenced flights between Toronto YYZ and San Francisco on Thursday 25 January. The 3,635-kilometre service will be maintained daily with the 132-seat E195 E2 aircraft. The airline will compete against Air Canada’s 28-weekly flights between the two cities, as well as United’s daily rotation.

Flight PD669 departs Toronto at 10:30 local time, arriving in San Francisco at 13:22 local time. The return service, operating as flight PD670, takes off from the Golden City at 14:50 local time, touching back down in Canada at 22:46 local time.

Kurush Minocher, Executive Director for Customer Experience and Airline Relations at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, added: “San Francisco is our sixth largest transborder market and was one of the highest growth destinations out of Toronto Pearson in 2023. Porter’s entry on the route will allow more passengers to fly directly between Toronto and San Francisco, providing them with a simplified travel experience.”

Porter Airlines’ second destination in California

The new route to San Francisco follows the launch of Porter Airlines’ daily service between Toronto YYZ and Los Angeles launched on 16 January, with the carrier now maintaining 14-weekly flights between Canada’s largest city and California.

Through its recently announced partnership with Alaska Airlines, Porter Airlines’ new San Francisco service connects onto Alaska’s well established US West Coast network and 18 destinations.

Apart from points in California, Porter Airlines also maintains operations to another 10 destinations in the US, mostly on the country’s East Coast. The majority of its flights are concentrated in Florida, with a  total of five destinations in the state.

Porter Airlines will further expand its US network with the introduction of flights between Toronto YYZ and Las Vegas on 5 March.
