New Route of the Day – Americas (25 May 2024): BermudAir between Bermuda and Halifax

BermudAir commenced operations between Bermuda and Halifax on Saturday 25 May. The 1,395-kilometre service will be operated weekly with the 66-seat E175 aircraft. The airline faces no competition on the route.

Flight 2T801 takes off from Bermuda at 08:15 local time, arriving in Baltimore at 10:40 local time. The return service, operating as flight 2T552, departs the Nova Scotia airport at 11:25 local time, touching back down on the island at 13:40 local time.

What they said

Adam Scott, Founder and CEO of BermudAir, said: “We’re delighted to launch this highly anticipated service for Bermuda and Halifax. This is clearly a route that has been underserved for a considerable amount of time. Given the centuries-long commercial, cultural and historical links these two markets share, we’re very pleased to help make leisure and business travel between them easier and more convenient. This also applies to the many students from Bermuda studying in Halifax, at universities such as Dalhousie, St. Mary’s and Mount St. Vincent, and their families.”

Joyce Carter, President & CEO at Halifax International Airport Authority, added: “We are excited to welcome BermudAir to Halifax Stanfield, re-establishing a strong connection between Nova Scotia and Bermuda. This service is more than just a new flight; it is a gateway to endless possibilities for leisure and business growth in both destinations. Welcome aboard, BermudAir!”

BermudAir’s second destination in Canada

BermudAir, which launched operations in September 2023, has expanded its footprint in Canada, with Halifax becoming its second destination in the country. It already serves Toronto YYZ 3-weekly. In total, the carrier operates 4-weekly departures from Bermuda to Canada, with just over 260 weekly seats on the market in each direction.

In addition to Canada, the carrier serves the US East Coast, with flights to Baltimore, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando MCO and White Plains in New York state

BermudAir is the flagship airline of Bermuda and the only locally based carrier on the island, offering flights with a pair of E175 aircraft.

Launching initially as a premium-only airline with a single business class cabin on its aircraft, the carrier quickly abandoned the concept after a month of operations and introduced an economy class cabin as well.
