New Route of the Day – Americas (25 October 2021): Frontier between Orlando and New York SWF
Frontier Airlines launched its first ever service from New York Stewart International Airport (IATA code SWF, located around 100 kilometres from New York City) on Monday 25 October when it began 4-weekly service to the airport from its base at Orlando in Florida. This is the first of three routes it will operate from Stewart to Florida this winter, with service to Miami and Tampa (both to be served 3-weekly) launching on 2 November.
New York SWF is operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and already offers non-stop service to Punta Gorda, Orlando SFB and St. Peter-Clearwater in Florida, courtesy of Allegiant, which also serves Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. Allegiant also operated seasonal service to Savannah in Georgia during the summer.
According to Cirium Data and Analytics, Frontier will be serving 74 airports with non-stop service from Orlando during the week commencing 8 November 2021. This compares with 55 airports in pre-pandemic November 2019.
What they said
Kevin O’Toole, Port Authority Chairman, said: “The addition of Frontier Airlines is a significant accomplishment for New York Stewart International Airport and a big win for our customers, particularly during these challenging times. We are delivering on the Port Authority’s core mission to re-energize the airport and keep the entire region moving.”
Daniel Shurz, SVP Commercial, Frontier Airlines, commented: “We’re excited to launch service at New York Stewart International Airport with the only non-stop flights from the airport to Orlando International Airport, the most convenient airport for the great theme parks, along with non-stop service to Miami and Tampa beginning next week. New York Stewart marks Frontier’s seventh airport in New York state, and we’re proud to continue growing our extensive route network with convenient airports and affordable non-stop flights to popular destinations.”
